Production, Distribution and Marketing & Exhibition in The film industry

PDE-

1) Production- There are 3 types:
-Pre-production
-Production
-Post-production

Pre- production is the stage in which all the planning for the project takes place. During pre-production, the production is broken down into individual scenes and all the locations, props, cast members, costumes, special effects and visual effects are identified. The script, if not already complete, is written at this stage.
-The second stage is the production, this is where the filming takes place. All the scenes which were planned in the 'pre production' stage are filmed at the planned locations. The scenes are filmed more than once to ensure good quality and perfection. This is also done to make sure that all necessary shots are taken as it is difficult to go back and repeat certain events if the filming is incomplete when it comes to the 'post production' stage.
-Post production This is the stage in which the film is assembled by the editor. The first job of the film editor is to build a rough cut taken from sequences (or scenes) based on individual "takes" (shots). The purpose of the rough cut is to select and order the best shots. The next step is to create a fine cut by getting all the shots to flow smoothly in a seamless story.

2) Distribution

A distributor is a individual or organisation who does marketing for the film and is held accountable for film realises. Here are some examples of some Film distribution countries , anchor bay, Dream works and 20th century fox.

3) Marketing

Marketing is when the film is fully done and released promotion and advertisement are then made for the film. Examples of this are trailers, Billboards. Magazines, newspapers, social networking sites, blogs, toys, ect

4) Exhibition

The film value chain is the different formats that a film can be released in as theatrical launch is only one of these formats. There is also non-theatrical license where the audience can watch the film on an aeroplane, at a hotel or on a coach. There is home entertainment, subscription TV, free to air TV and licensed merchandising. We can also view films via the internet.
