Thor: The dark world Research



Thor:The dark world is a 2013 American superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character 'Thor'. 
The film is produced by 'Marvel Studios' and distributed by 'Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures'.

Due to the budget they had enough money to include a range of different technologies to produce a great film. Thor 2 has many animated features and effects which was down to the technology they used some include

Marketing
-In April 2013, Marvel released the first trailer for Thor: The Dark World. 

-In July at the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con International, Hiddleston introduced footage from the film to  audiences in character as Loki.
-In July, Gameloft announced that a mobile video game titled, Thor the Dark World: The Official Game.
-In August 2013, Marvel released a second trailer for the film as part of YouTube's Geek Week.
-In August 2013, Disney announced plans to promote the film with an attraction at Disneyland.
-Premier at London, Leicester square.
-Various posters, online, billboards, tube/bus stations, TV adverts, magazines,online social networking e.g. facebook, twitter, tumblr etc




Release Dates 
The world premier of Thor: The Dark World took place on October 22, 2013 at the Odeon Leicester Square in London.
The film was released at cinemas in the UK eight days later on October 30 and will be released into US cinemas on November 5, 2013.

2D, 3D, IMAX release october 30, planning to sell on DVD and Blu-Ray in 2014
Running time of 112 minutes.

Also the first Thor movie was also a success people who enjoyed it are also very likely to be attracted by Thor 2 also people who enjoy it as a comic book and also for people who enjoy sci-fi and fantasy type genre movies.

Box office
Thor: The Dark World has earned $109.4 million worldwide. On its opening day, it earned $8.2 million from 33 territories, in all of which it was the #1 film, including the UK and France. During its first three days, the film earned $45.2 million from 36 countries and by the end of the weekend, it earned $109.4 million, topping the weekend box office outside North America. It finished in first place in all 36 countries.

Synergy 
The synergy has been used through the Lego company by modelling their toys to increase their financial gain in order to promote the company and Thor as well. Also another synergy used to premote Thor was skype. Marvel Studios released new clips and artwork for Thor 2 through their Avengers Alliance social network game as well as a skype QnA. The cast of Thor 2 will be participating in the Skype QnA.
Also through merchadise e.g. Toys, action figures, clothing; T-shirt, costume, props, phone cases, stationary and stuffed toys.



Cross media convergence 
An example of cross media convergence is the aid of Marvel for Thor. In addition at the London premier the X factor contestants were present on the red carpet, therefore gaining a larger attraction and potentially new audience.
